Is this a fit?

Get businesses more qualified leads — prospect lists, ICP definition, personalized outreach, and appointment-setting — using Clay, AI enrichment, and smart sequencing. A concrete, results-based pitch rather than "sales agency."

Skills to bring or develop

  • Cold Email Strategy
  • B2B Sales
  • AI Personalization
  • Data Enrichment
  • Copywriting

The starting sequence

  1. Master Clay data enrichment and AI personalization
  2. Set up email infrastructure (domains, warmup, deliverability)
  3. Build outreach playbooks for 2-3 industries
  4. Land first clients through your own outbound campaigns
  5. Scale with performance-based pricing and case studies

What the work involves

You're building a small agency that books sales meetings for B2B companies using cold email infrastructure, AI-powered personalization, and data enrichment tools like Clay. The actual work is less glamorous than the Twitter threads make it sound: you're pulling lead lists, writing and testing email copy, debugging deliverability issues, and reporting results to clients who are paying you to fill their calendar. The AI handles enrichment and personalization at scale — but you still have to think clearly about who the right prospect is, what they actually care about, and why your client's offer is worth a reply. If you can't answer those questions, no tool will save you. You'll need a working grasp of email infrastructure (domains, warming, SPF/DKIM), a nose for copy that doesn't sound like a robot wrote it, and enough B2B sales intuition to know a qualified lead from a time-waster. Clients will expect weekly reporting, fast responses when a campaign underperforms, and honest conversations when the numbers aren't there. This is a service business — your reputation is built one client result at a time.

Write a hyper-personalized cold email sequence for a B2B prospect
I run a cold email outreach agency. I need you to write a 3-step cold email sequence for the following prospect.

Prospect details:
- Company: [COMPANY NAME]
- Industry: [INDUSTRY]
- Role of contact: [JOB TITLE]
- Recent trigger/news: [E.G. 'just raised Series A' / 'posted a job for 3 SDRs' / 'launched a new product']
- My client's offer: [WHAT MY CLIENT SELLS — be specific, e.g. 'fractional CFO services for SaaS companies with $1M-$5M ARR']
- Desired outcome: Book a 20-minute discovery call

Rules:
- Email 1: Ultra-specific opener referencing the trigger above. No fluff. 3-4 sentences max. One soft CTA.
- Email 2 (3 days later): Add a relevant case study or social proof. 2-3 sentences. Different angle from Email 1.
- Email 3 (5 days later): Break-up email. Honest, not passive-aggressive. One last value hook.
- No buzzwords: no 'synergy', 'leverage', 'game-changer', 'revolutionize'
- Subject lines: lowercase, conversational, under 8 words each
- Write from the perspective of [MY CLIENT'S NAME/COMPANY]

Output format: Email 1 subject / body, Email 2 subject / body, Email 3 subject / body.

Review requirements: Separate supplied facts from assumptions. Do not invent market data, customer results, testimonials, or source citations. Flag missing information and suggest a small validation test. Mark numerical examples as scenarios. Keep the final decision with me.
Build a Clay enrichment waterfall prompt for lead scoring
I use Clay.com to enrich B2B lead lists for cold email campaigns. Help me design a lead scoring rubric I can implement as a formula column in Clay.

Target persona for my current client:
- Industry: [E.G. B2B SaaS]
- Company size: [E.G. 20-200 employees]
- Ideal job titles: [E.G. VP of Sales, Head of Revenue, CRO]
- Buying signals to look for: [E.G. hiring SDRs, posted content about pipeline problems, recently funded]
- Disqualifiers: [E.G. agency, non-profit, outside North America]

Create a scoring system (0-100) that weights:
1. Title match (0-30 points)
2. Company size fit (0-20 points)
3. Buying signal present (0-30 points)
4. Disqualifier check (-50 if present)
5. LinkedIn activity in last 30 days (0-20 points)

For each criterion, give me:
- The exact logic/condition
- The Clay formula syntax or plain-English description I can hand to a VA to implement
- What API/enrichment source in Clay to pull the data from (e.g. Apollo, LinkedIn scraper, Clearbit)

Also suggest a threshold: what score = 'send now', what score = 'review manually', what score = 'skip'.

Review requirements: Separate supplied facts from assumptions. Do not invent market data, customer results, testimonials, or source citations. Flag missing information and suggest a small validation test. Mark numerical examples as scenarios. Keep the final decision with me.
Write a cold email agency client proposal
Write a concise, honest client proposal for my AI cold email outreach agency. This is NOT a sales deck — it's a working document the client will actually read.

Client details:
- Company: [CLIENT COMPANY]
- Their offer/product: [WHAT THEY SELL]
- Their ideal customer profile (ICP): [DESCRIBE ICP]
- Their current outreach situation: [E.G. 'no outreach at all' / 'doing it manually, 10 emails/day' / 'tried an agency, got poor results']
- Their goal: [E.G. '5 qualified calls/month']

Proposal must include:
1. What I'll do (plain English, no jargon): list the exact deliverables — list building, enrichment, copywriting, sequencing, reporting
2. What I won't do (honest scope boundaries)
3. Timeline: weeks 1-2 setup, week 3 first sends, week 4 first report
4. Pricing: [INSERT YOUR PRICING — e.g. $3,500/month retainer + $500 setup fee]
5. What I need from them (ICP brief, domain, case studies, calendar link)
6. How we measure success (reply rate, positive reply rate, meetings booked)
7. A single honest disclaimer: cold email results vary; I optimize for quality signals, not vanity metrics

Tone: direct, confident, no fluff. Write like a trusted operator, not a salesperson.

Review requirements: Separate supplied facts from assumptions. Do not invent market data, customer results, testimonials, or source citations. Flag missing information and suggest a small validation test. Mark numerical examples as scenarios. Keep the final decision with me.
Diagnose a cold email campaign that isn't getting replies
I run a cold email outreach agency and one of my campaigns is underperforming. Help me diagnose the problem systematically.

Campaign stats:
- Emails sent: [NUMBER]
- Open rate: [%]
- Reply rate: [%]
- Positive reply rate: [%]
- Bounce rate: [%]
- Sequence tool used: [E.G. Instantly, Smartlead]
- Sending volume per inbox per day: [NUMBER]
- Number of sending domains/inboxes: [NUMBER]
- Days since campaign launched: [NUMBER]
- Target ICP: [DESCRIBE]
- Email 1 subject line: [PASTE IT]
- Email 1 body: [PASTE IT]

Diagnose the most likely problem by walking through this checklist:
1. Deliverability (bounce rate, spam placement, domain age, SPF/DKIM/DMARC)
2. List quality (are we hitting real people in the right role?)
3. Subject line (is it getting opens?)
4. Email body (is the opener relevant? Is the CTA too heavy?)
5. Offer clarity (would the reader immediately understand what's being offered and why it matters to them?)
6. Timing/volume (are we burning domains?)

For each issue you identify, give me: the likely cause, one specific fix I can implement this week, and what metric to watch to confirm it worked.

Be direct. Tell me the most likely culprit first.

Review requirements: Separate supplied facts from assumptions. Do not invent market data, customer results, testimonials, or source citations. Flag missing information and suggest a small validation test. Mark numerical examples as scenarios. Keep the final decision with me.

Problems to plan for

Use these playbook prompts to question your plan. Pricing, channels, and delivery models should be tested with your own customers.

Burning new sending domains too fast

Buy domains at least 4 weeks before any campaign. Use a tool like Instantly or Smartlead's built-in warm-up for 2-3 weeks. Start at 20-30 emails/day per inbox and ramp over 2 weeks. Use aged domains from marketplaces if you need to move faster. Never share a domain across two clients.

Taking clients without a clear, validated ICP

Before signing any client, run a 30-minute ICP interview. Require them to name: the job title who signs the check, 3 companies they've already closed, and the specific pain those companies had. If they can't answer, don't take the engagement or charge a discovery fee to define the ICP first.

Confusing activity metrics with results and reporting them to clients

Set up a simple reporting dashboard (even a Google Sheet) that tracks: emails sent, open rate, reply rate, positive reply rate, and meetings booked. Report weekly. Frame every number against the goal (meetings booked). If results are below target, report it honestly with your diagnosis and next action — don't hide it.

Skipping email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) on client domains

Make domain authentication setup a mandatory step in your client onboarding checklist — before any warm-up begins. Use MXToolbox to verify SPF, DKIM, and DMARC are correctly configured. Add a DMARC policy of at least p=none with a monitoring email. Check deliverability with GlockApps or Mail-Tester before going live.

Over-promising meeting volume in the sales process

Quote a range based on realistic benchmarks: 'For a list of 1,000 qualified prospects, expect 10-50 replies and 3-15 positive replies in the first month, depending on offer strength and ICP fit.' Use 'meetings booked' as a lagging indicator you optimize toward, not a guarantee. Put this language in your contract.

Your first small test

  1. Choose one customer. Find five people who have the problem described in this guide.
  2. Show one useful sample. Ask about their current process, priorities, and objections.
  3. Offer a clearly scoped pilot. Agree on deliverables, a price to test, and what success means.
  4. Record the evidence. Track responses, costs, hours, and what the buyer actually used. Decide whether to continue, change, or pause.
