My focus this week

A first week you can fit around life

These are seven steps, not deadlines. Use your own time limit. If you miss a day, resume with the next useful step; there is no streak to lose.

  1. Day 1 · Choose one outcome

Write who this helps and what you want to learn. Set a time and spending limit.

    Make an experiment brief
  2. Day 2 · Set the quality bar

Choose an output and write what would make it useful. For an AI workflow, time a comparable manual task before claiming a saving.

    Build a two-role team
  3. Day 3 · Make the smallest version

Use approved inputs. Keep the first attempt small enough to inspect yourself.

    See example workflows
  4. Day 4 · Check and correct

Check sources, accuracy, and usefulness. Count briefing, review, fixes, failures, and setup as real work.

    Measure the effort
  5. Day 5 · Try it with someone

Ask a willing, relevant person to attempt the task. Watch where they hesitate; record behavior separately from compliments.

    Use the pilot prompts
  6. Day 6 · Record what happened

Log actual time, costs, output, and response. Leave unknowns blank. A completed task is not proof of income.

    Open my evidence log
  7. Day 7 · Choose the next move

Continue, change one assumption, or pause. Pick one small next action and a realistic review date.

    Plan my restart

My evidence log

Use dated entries below. Record unknowns as unknown, and keep predictions separate from observations. Do not include customer names, contact details, or confidential inputs.

Getting through the dip

Ask: What is hard right now—scope, skill, energy, or access to people? Shrink one part until the next action fits ten minutes. Pausing intentionally is a valid decision.

Use Waymaker’s Builder DNA to reflect on how you work, or read a founder story from the shared Waymaker collection. Write one adjustment above, then try it in your next session.
