Is this a fit?

Source profitable products via online arbitrage, wholesale, or private label and let Amazon FBA handle storage, packing, and shipping. AI does the heavy lifting: product research, profit calculation, listing optimization, PPC management, and review monitoring.

Skills to bring or develop

  • Product Research
  • Supplier Relations
  • Listing Optimization
  • Amazon PPC
  • Inventory Management

The starting sequence

  1. Pick your model — Online Arbitrage (lowest capital), Wholesale (mid), or Private Label (highest leverage)
  2. Research profitable products with Keepa + SmartScout + Helium 10 — focus on velocity × margin × low competition
  3. Source first 10-20 products and prep for FBA shipment
  4. Optimize listings with AI-generated titles, bullets, A+ content, and images
  5. Run PPC campaigns to drive velocity, then defend organic ranking

Find your first customers

Treat this customer profile as a starting hypothesis. Talk to people in this role and find out what they already do, what it costs them, and whether they want help.

Role

Aspiring FBA seller

Industry

Amazon ecommerce

Problems to investigate

  • Drowning in product research — every Helium 10 search returns thousands of options
  • Fear of buying inventory that does not sell (sunk cost in FBA warehouses)
  • Listings rank poorly — copywriting is not their strength
  • Suspension risk if they get a category restriction or IP complaint
  • Cash flow lag — FBA pays every 14 days, suppliers want NET-30

Channels to test

  • SEO
  • Paid Ads
  • Communities
  • Content Marketing

First launch approach

Amazon IS the channel — your job is to win the buy box and rank organically. Launch each product with aggressive PPC for 2-4 weeks to drive velocity + reviews, then defend rank with optimized listings and inventory health.

Ways to find your first customer

  • Run Amazon PPC sponsored product ads from day 1 — bid aggressively on long-tail keywords first
  • Get to 15+ reviews fast via Vine program (private label) or just exceptional fulfillment
  • Optimize main image (mobile-tested) — biggest single conversion lever on Amazon
  • Use price drops + coupons in first 30 days to stack velocity for ranking
  • Build A+ content (EBC) — required for premium conversion rates

Content ideas

  • Behind-the-scenes of FBA prep and shipment
  • Product research walkthroughs (sanitized, no exact products)
  • PPC results breakdowns (TACoS over time)
  • Margin transparency — what FBA actually pays after fees
  • Failed product post-mortems (these go viral)

Shape the offer & delivery

These are example packages to adapt, not current market rates or promises of sales. Choose one deliverable, set a revision limit, and test the scope with a real buyer before expanding.

Online Arbitrage

$15-50 per item example price

  • Source from retail clearance, online deals, B&M
  • Quick to test profitability

Wholesale

$30-150 per item example price

  • Repeatable buying from approved distributors
  • Replenishable inventory = predictable revenue

Private Label

$20-80 per item, branded example price

  • Build a brand asset you can sell
  • Highest margin (40-60%)
  • Requires patient runway (6-12 months to scale)

Build and deliver the offer

Physical product

Sourcing checklist

  • Shortlist 5-10 candidate products from research (see AI prompts below) that meet your margin and demand thresholds
  • Search Alibaba/1688 for 5+ manufacturers per candidate — never commit to the first supplier you find
  • Compare samples against Amazon best-sellers in the category for build quality, not just photos
  • Negotiate MOQ (minimum order quantity) down for your first order — most suppliers will do 100-300 units for a new relationship even if their listed MOQ is higher
  • Confirm your product needs no additional certifications (FDA, CPSC, UL) for its category before ordering — check per-category, this is a real compliance gap, not a formality

Listing template

Title formula

[Brand] [Primary Keyword] [Key Feature/Material] [Size/Quantity/Color] — [Use Case], [Secondary Keyword]

Bullet point formulas

  • Bullet 1 — lead with the #1 customer pain point this solves, in the first 5 words (mobile truncates fast)
  • Bullet 2 — the single feature that most differentiates you from the top 3 competitors
  • Bullet 3 — a use-case or "who this is for" bullet — helps buyers self-select
  • Bullet 4 — quality/durability/materials specifics with a concrete detail (not "high quality" — a spec)
  • Bullet 5 — guarantee/warranty + a soft CTA ("Add to cart risk-free")

Required photos

  • Lifestyle shot: product in real use context
  • Infographic: 3-4 key specs/benefits overlaid on product shot
  • Scale/size reference shot
  • Comparison shot vs. a generic alternative (if applicable)
  • Packaging shot — what arrives at the customer's door

Fulfillment steps

  • Create your Amazon Seller Central listing in Draft before inventory ships (catch listing issues before they cost you storage fees)
  • Set up FBA shipping plan in Seller Central — get your Amazon warehouse destination and box labels
  • Book freight forwarder for ocean/air shipping from supplier to Amazon warehouse (or have supplier arrange DDP shipping for your first order — simpler, costs more)
  • Track shipment; confirm receipt at FBA warehouse via Seller Central inventory dashboard
  • Publish listing live once inventory shows as "Available" in FBA inventory
  • Set up automatic + manual PPC campaigns same day as launch — organic ranking on a brand-new listing is near zero without paid traffic in week one

Your launch roadmap

Work through the phases at your own pace. Durations and task hours are estimates; client conversations, sales, and other outcomes depend on the response you receive. Growth and exit steps are optional later decisions.

01 · Foundation 2 weeks · suggested pace

Set up Amazon Seller account, learn the platform, pick your model

  1. Record the questions this step raises for your business, location, and circumstances. Confirm requirements and assumptions with current official sources and a qualified professional before acting.

Tool examples: Amazon Seller Central, IRS.gov, GS1.org

    Planning allowance: 4 hours

  2. Decide: Online Arbitrage (lowest barrier), Wholesale (best for replenishable cash flow), or Private Label (asset-builder). Use AI to score each against your capital, time, and risk tolerance. Pick ONE for the next 90 days.

Target deliverable: Model decision documented with rationale

Tool examples: ChatGPT, Claude, Google Sheets

Planning allowance: 3 hours · AI can assist; review the output

  3. Subscribe to Helium 10 (or Jungle Scout), Keepa, and SmartScout (for wholesale). Configure filters: BSR rank, monthly revenue, price, review count, FBA fee impact. Save 5-10 starter searches in your niche of interest.

Target deliverable: Product research stack live with saved filters

Tool examples: Helium 10, Keepa, SmartScout

    Planning allowance: 4 hours

  4. Run AI-assisted product research: target 30%+ ROI, BSR < 50K in main category, < 200 reviews on top results, no big brand monopoly. For Wholesale, identify brands open to new resellers. For Private Label, find products with clear differentiation opportunities.

Target deliverable: 10-20 product candidates with profit math

Tool examples: Helium 10, Keepa, ChatGPT, Google Sheets

Planning allowance: 8 hours · AI can assist; review the output

02 · Launch 4 weeks · suggested pace

Source, list, ship to FBA, and start selling

  1. For OA: place orders from retail/online sources. For Wholesale: open accounts with 3-5 distributors, place first order. For Private Label: contact suppliers on Alibaba, order 100-300 units. Plan for 2-6 week supplier lead time.

Target deliverable: First inventory ordered or in hand

Tool examples: Alibaba, Wholesale supplier portals, Online retailers

    Planning allowance: 10 hours

  2. For each product: AI-generate title (5 keyword target), 5 bullet points, description, search terms, A+ content blocks. Photograph or contract photography (white background main image is non-negotiable). Use Helium 10 Frankenstein/Scribbles for keyword density.

Target deliverable: All listings live with optimized copy + images

Tool examples: ChatGPT, Claude, Helium 10, Canva

Planning allowance: 12 hours · AI can assist; review the output

  3. Create FBA shipment in Seller Central, print labels, prep per Amazon requirements (poly bag, suffocation warning, etc.), ship to designated warehouses. Wait 1-2 weeks for receive. Listings go live the moment inventory is checked in.

Target deliverable: Inventory checked in to FBA, listings live

Tool examples: Amazon Seller Central, Pirate Ship, Label printer

    Planning allowance: 8 hours

  4. AI suggests negative keywords from search-term reports.

Target deliverable: PPC campaigns running, daily reviewed

Tool examples: Amazon Advertising, Helium 10 Adtomic, ChatGPT

Planning allowance: 6 hours · AI can assist; review the output

03 · Scale 3 months · suggested pace

Defend ranking, expand catalog, automate operations

  1. Vine program (10 free units → reviews) for Brand Registry sellers. Automated review request via Helium 10 Follow-Up. Insert cards thanking customers (compliant — never ask for positive reviews). Goal: 30+ reviews per product within 60 days of launch.

Target deliverable: 30+ reviews per launched product

Tool examples: Amazon Vine, Helium 10 Follow-Up

    Planning allowance: 4 hours

  2. Each week: pull search-term reports, identify high-spend low-conversion keywords (negate), promote high-performers to dedicated exact campaigns, adjust bids based on ACoS targets. AI flags anomalies. Goal: TACoS under 12%.

Tool examples: Amazon Advertising, Helium 10 Adtomic, ChatGPT

Planning allowance: 6 hours · AI can assist; review the output

  3. Use winners from launch to identify expansion: same supplier different products (Wholesale), variations of best-seller (Private Label), or related categories (OA). AI re-runs research filters with refined criteria.

Target deliverable: Catalog at 30-50 SKUs with margin tracking

Tool examples: Helium 10, Keepa, ChatGPT

Planning allowance: 16 hours · AI can assist; review the output

  4. Document SOPs (AI-generated from your existing workflow). Set up auto-repricer (BQool/Aura) for OA + Wholesale.

Target deliverable: VA hired with SOPs + repricer live

Tool examples: OnlineJobs.ph, BQool, Notion, ChatGPT

Planning allowance: 8 hours · AI can assist; review the output

04 · Exit 60 days · suggested pace

Prepare your Amazon FBA business for sale, acquisition, or hands-off operation

  1. Create comprehensive standard operating procedures covering every repeatable process in your Amazon FBA business — client onboarding, delivery workflows, billing, and support. A buyer needs to run this without you.

Target deliverable: Complete SOP handbook with video walkthroughs

Tool examples: Notion, Loom, Google Docs

Planning allowance: 12 hours · AI can assist; review the output

  2. Record the questions this step raises for your business, location, and circumstances. Confirm requirements and assumptions with current official sources and a qualified professional before acting.

Target deliverable: Valuation estimate with supporting financials

    Tool examples: Google Sheets, ChatGPT

Planning allowance: 6 hours · AI can assist; review the output

  3. Organize all financial records, contracts, customer data, IP documentation, and legal documents into a virtual data room that a buyer or their advisor can review.

Target deliverable: Organized virtual data room

Tool examples: Google Drive, Google Sheets

    Planning allowance: 10 hours

  4. Identify every area where the business depends on you personally. Delegate, automate, or document each one. Test by taking 2 weeks off and measuring impact.

Target deliverable: Owner dependency scorecard (before/after)

    Tool examples: Notion, Zapier, Slack

    Planning allowance: 20 hours

  5. Create a teaser document (blind profile) for your Amazon FBA business and either list on marketplaces (Acquire.com, Flippa, Quiet Light) or reach out directly to 5-10 potential acquirers.

Target deliverable: Teaser document + 5-10 buyer conversations started

Tool examples: Acquire.com, Google Docs, Email

Planning allowance: 8 hours · AI can assist; review the output

Product research filter (Helium 10 / Keepa data → go/no-go)
You are an Amazon FBA product analyst. I will paste Helium 10 / Keepa data for a candidate product. Score it on a 1-10 scale and recommend GO / WAIT / SKIP.

Data:
[paste BSR, monthly revenue estimate, review count, top sellers, FBA fees, dimensions, current price]

1. **Verdict** (GO / WAIT / SKIP) with confidence
2. **Score breakdown**: BSR (velocity), competition, margin after FBA fees, gating risk, brand registry blocking
3. **Red flags** (gating, IP, hazmat, oversized fees, sales tank in last 90 days)
4. **First-order math**: units to buy, expected sell-through, breakeven sale price, target margin
5. **Hidden costs** typical for this category (returns rate, oversize fees, brand registry attempts)

[keywords above target ACoS by 50%+]

NEW CAMPAIGNS TO BUILD:
[suggest based on patterns in search terms]

WEEKLY HEALTH CHECK:
- TACoS trajectory vs target
- Wasted spend % (low/medium/high)
- Inventory health flags (out-of-stock = kill PPC immediately)
- 1 thing to test next week

Review requirements: Separate supplied facts from assumptions. Do not invent market data, customer results, testimonials, or source citations. Flag missing information and suggest a small validation test. Mark numerical examples as scenarios. Keep the final decision with me.
Supplier outreach (Wholesale)
Generate 3 cold outreach emails to a wholesale distributor for an Amazon FBA reseller. Tone: professional, brief, signals you are NOT a tire-kicker.

Distributor: [name + product category]
My business: [LLC name, year started, monthly sales volume if you have it]
Specific products of interest: [3-5 SKUs]
What I need from them: [pricing, MOQ, drop-ship vs warehouse, MAP policy]

Email 1: Initial intro (under 150 words)
Email 2: Follow-up if no reply in 7 days (under 100 words)
Email 3: Final ask if no reply in 14 days (under 80 words, soft)

Include subject lines that pass spam filters.

Message type: [Return request / Negative review / Pre-purchase question / A-to-Z claim risk]
Buyer message: [paste]
Order details: [item, ship date, return reason]

Output:
- Response (under 200 words, warm + professional)
- Resolution offer (refund, replacement, partial)
- Compliance check: anything I should NOT say (asking for review removal is against ToS)
- Escalation flag if A-to-Z risk

Account-health-first: never argue, always offer resolution, document everything.

Review requirements: Separate supplied facts from assumptions. Do not invent market data, customer results, testimonials, or source citations. Flag missing information and suggest a small validation test. Mark numerical examples as scenarios. Keep the final decision with me.
Profit margin sanity check before reorder
Before reordering inventory, run a real-cost analysis. I will paste actual sales data + costs from the last 90 days.

Sales data (per SKU): [units sold, revenue, returns, refunds]
Costs: [COGS per unit, FBA fees, PPC spend, storage, returns processing, removal fees]

Output:
1. **True net margin per SKU** (after EVERYTHING — most operators only count visible fees)
2. **Cash conversion cycle** — how long does $1 take to come back as $1.50?
3. **Reorder recommendation** — yes/no + units + lead time buffer
4. **Hidden margin leaks** — what's eating your profit
5. **Repricer floor** — minimum sale price that protects margin under heavy competition

Review requirements: Separate supplied facts from assumptions. Do not invent market data, customer results, testimonials, or source citations. Flag missing information and suggest a small validation test. Mark numerical examples as scenarios. Keep the final decision with me.

Problems to plan for

Use these playbook prompts to question your plan. Pricing, channels, and delivery models should be tested with your own customers.

Buying inventory before understanding gating + brand restrictions

Before any first order: check gating in Seller Central > Inventory > Add a Product. Try to list a sample ASIN and see if it requires approval. If gated, either get ungated first or pick a different product.

Underestimating fees on first products

Use the Helium 10 / Keepa Profitability Calculator with REAL fees pulled.

Spending too long on perfect listing before launch

Plan to refresh title/bullets/A+ at week 4 and week 12 based on conversion data.

PPC bid-and-pray (set and forget for weeks)

Review search-term reports DAILY for first 30 days, then weekly. Negate non-converting search terms aggressively. AI prompt above does the heavy lifting.

Ignoring inventory health (stockouts kill rankings)

Set a reorder trigger at 30 days of cover. Always have replenishment in flight. Pause PPC the moment you see <14 days of inventory.

Using one supplier with no backup

For every SKU, have at least 2 qualified suppliers. Even if you only buy from one, audit the backup quarterly.

No brand registry on Private Label

Apply for Brand Registry the day trademark is approved.

Your first small test

  1. Choose one customer. Find five people who have the problem described in this guide.
  2. Show one useful sample. Ask about their current process, priorities, and objections.
  3. Offer a clearly scoped pilot. Agree on deliverables, a price to test, and what success means.
  4. Record the evidence. Track responses, costs, hours, and what the buyer actually used. Decide whether to continue, change, or pause.
