What your first side-hustle site actually needs

Give a visitor enough clarity to understand the offer, trust the next step, and take it.

By Ashley Kays · The Wealth Experiment

A first site is a working explanation of your offer. It helps the right person recognize a problem you can solve and decide whether to start a conversation. That is a useful job for one focused page.

Say who it is for and what changes

The top of the page should help a visitor answer two questions: is this for someone like me, and what would I get from it? Use the words your customers use. A clever line can add personality, but it should not hide the offer.

Describe the outcome at a level you can actually deliver. “Three reviewed onboarding emails” is clearer than “transform your growth.” You can explain the broader value after people understand the work.

Show the shape of the offer

Explain what is included, what you need from the customer, and how the work moves forward. If scope or pricing varies, say how those details will be agreed. If you have a relevant example, show it accurately and explain your role.

Do not fill empty space with invented testimonials or results. A well-explained process, a useful sample, and a clear founder story can give a visitor real information while you build customer evidence.

Make one next step easy

Choose whether the page is asking for an inquiry, a beta request, or a purchase. Label the action precisely. A request form should confirm that the request was saved; it should not imply that an appointment or account now exists.

Test the whole path on a phone and with a keyboard. Check the labels, required fields, success state, and what happens when submission fails. A clear page is only useful if the action works.

Launch a test, then listen

Share the page with people who fit the audience. Ask what they think is being offered and what remains unclear. Watch for the questions you need to answer, rather than collecting compliments about the design.

Waymaker can be part of your idea-to-launch journey. Use the free beta request to share what you want to build, or bring your page into a build-with-me session for focused guidance.

Your next move

Write your audience, deliverable, and primary call to action. Use those three decisions to edit your first page.
